This is the international spot price (COMEX gold futures) converted through the live dollar/won rate — not a retail counter price. Jewelers and gold shops add VAT and a dealer margin on top, so the price you'd actually pay to buy gold runs higher than this figure.
The gram price comes from the COMEX gold futures price (GC=F, US dollars per troy ounce) divided by 31.1034768 grams per ounce, then converted to won at the live dollar/won rate. The don price is the gram price × 3.75. Purity below 24K scales the price down by karat ÷ 24 (18K = 18/24, 14K = 14/24).
This is a spot-price conversion, not a store quote. Actual buy and sell prices at a Korean gold shop include value-added tax and a dealer margin on top of the international price, and can also differ from shop to shop.
